Marvin Walker and Frederick Walker are dedicated community advocates with a passion for helping the homeless and youth. They began their journey with an initiative called “Braids for Days,” which laid the foundation for their ongoing work. Over time, they’ve expanded their efforts to include a 30-day boot camp now called Detroit Power Detroit Community Outreach, designed to empower youth and adults and help them transition their lives for the better.
Marvin and Frederick have always had a passion for helping others and have consistently given back to the community. Their impactful work has been recognized over the course of 13 to 15 years by community leaders, and they have received three awards from Charles Pugh, Brenda Jones, and Mary Sheffield, highlighting their dedication and positive influence.
Coming from a large family, Marvin and Frederick grew up in a home where their mother and aunt always made space for everyone, even if it meant having over 15 people in one room. This background instilled in them a strong sense of community and compassion, which they now channel into their work.
